Episode 147 "Foam Hatchet Time"
We’re Live. Almost Christmas. Foam Hatchet Time. Josh ask if Chuck eliminated a person for having scheduling issues for an interview. Chuck describes the issues he was having with interviews. Chuck is looking for an A+ player! Chuck says hiring is tough and some people are not cut out for the job.
Chuck talks about automating stuff for his sponsors. John talks about Aaron a new hire, who is doing a great job for Simple Programmer. John talks about the tasks that were successfully completed by Aaron. Chuck ask is John reads fiction books, as he is creating a list. John talks about Snow Crash the book. This book is somewhat Pre-Matrix.
Josh and John talks about reading their kids books. Chuck talks about his picture in front of the Trump tower. John says to look up the word Bigget. Chuck says he did this for laughs, but it backfired. John talks about about liberty and what it means today.
Chuck talks about rights to speak rather they are right or wrong. Chuck asks how they plan for the beginning of the year. Josh says that make it up as it goes. Johns says to come up with the plan, then alter the plan. John describes planning based on what he is doing with the podcast awards.
Josh says they have a pool of ideas and do them based on what is best next. Chuck talks about attending conferences in the new year. John talks about having a mix of thing for the new best and plan building around them, as far as on going things.
For example, John plans to making the book a huge success. Chuck ask because he is building a team. Chuck ask how John and Josh build and manage their team. John talks about the interesting dynamic they have with Rodrigo at Simple Programmer, as an employee. Josh talks about communication with his helpers for Simple Programmer.
Josh say the real key is getting the A+ players. Josh says he wants a better promotional calendar. John says if he has to monitor you, he will fire you. Chuck says see progress will help him relax. Josh suggest using Trello to see progress with the team.
John says he does not hire, unless there is an automation that can be applied to the job. Chuck talks more about things he want to do to build a team for his business. John talks about why he has no hired a personal assistant. John speaks more on assigning tasks to his employees.
Chuck asks what is a good test project for hiring an executive assistant. Chuck talks about creating a standard operating procedure as a task for the new hire. Josh says he wants his new hires to screw him now on a test job. Chuck ask what he should he pay them for the test task.
John says to pay them their hour rate they asked. He says this will give him the good idea about how they work. Let them hang themselves..
John says to vote for the Podcast Awards through December 31st! Next, John says all the EntreProgrammers have their logos, and pay your membership fees. John says he is going to logos ready.

John, again demonstrates Alexa’s capabilities, another experiment with his office lights. Success! John talks about nonstop Elvin and the Chipmunks songs coming out of Alexa.
Derick talks about being sick. Chuck talks about his hectic day with phone screenings. John talks about his challenge of bringing him 50K for a job. Josh said he will claim credit for accomplishing this challenge.
Derick said he loves the idea, and would hire someone on the spot if they can help bring money into his business. John explains how to this challenge works if you had implemented this with a millionaire.
Chuck talks more about how hiring the right person can help generate revenue for your business. Chuck talks about using KSL radio for trying to hire a local person for his business. Chuck shares how this potential new hire will help his business.
Derick says that everything that Chuck mentioned as his need for this job, is everything he needs to tell the person for hire. John shares how to look at the situation when looking for a new hire. John talks about how he hires on UpWork, or just hiring in general.
The EntreProgrammers talk about how looking at resumes maybe worthless, verses meeting the person on a video call to judge their personality. Chuck talks about specifically what he is looking for in a new hire.

Derick shares his thoughts on the kind of person who would want this job that Chuck is offering. Chuck says he wants to find the person who is aspiring to do the best at everything that they do and looking for stability.
John says this person has to have a vision for themselves in the next few years. John says to Chuck that he is not looking for a hanger-on-er. Chuck says that most people who apply for the job are stay-at-home-moms.
Derick reveals he is going to do a ebook on Docker. Derick is doing a blogpost and the ebook, and getting people up to speed for the pre-sale.
Derick quickly mentions his plans for his business as of now. John says he want to be one of Derick’ s stick figure on his page. Derick talks about his next experiment with his book.

Episode 145 “ Leotard and Cape”
John says he just completed his new book on air. John says the entire book took 6 months to write. John says he can now remove the Trello card to write his book in the morning. John tries an on air test with Alexa. Not working so great now. Chuck mentions having similar issues with playing Christmas songs.
EntreProgrammers discuss ways they use Echo, time out timers and playing music. Josh say he is fed up with Siri as well.
Chuck talks about trying to find a CRM, but he does not want to pay for duplicate services. Josh asks why Drip was not providing everything he needed. Josh mentions he liked SalesForce. Josh talks about Active Campaign and their small issues.

Mastermind team members! John mentions that the teams should contact him, about the team names, cover art, and other elements for building the podcast mastermind. John ask if it is possible to create a subscription account with PayPal for monthly payments. The goal is to launch the mastermind project for January!
