Episode 143 “This Is Where The News Happens”

And We’re Live. Chuck says hello for NYC for Microsoft Connect. Chuck plans to retire for iPheaks and The Freelancer show in Dev Chat TV. Chuck talks about hiring a coach to help him get to the next level. Chuck talks about letting the podcast shows know about what they need to do with the sponsorship funds. John thinks Chuck should still control the sponsorship funds as the producer.

John continues to talk about the control Chuck should have as the brand or producer. Josh suggests finding away to  split sponsorship if they host find sponsors themselves. John thinks that as a business, Chuck should not lose the sponsorship money, incase the show become super popular.

Chuck says that he has another sponsor beside hired.com. Also, Chuck says that he is trying to hire another VA type person who can take over Mandy’s old tasks. John think this is ok for Chuck to do, because now Chuck has multiple roles filled at less cost.

Josh talks about almost getting fired over bad t-shirts. John talks about trying to get sample t-shirt before he pays for a boat load.

John and Chuck talk about selling t shirts and other items that support their brand. This is about ways to manage inventory and shipping. John says he is looking for screen printed shirts, or print on demand, and drop shipping.

We’re Live! No Sonmez. John is attending a Tony Robbins event or concert.  Derick talks about how his MacBook Pro kept crashing during mastermind calls. Derick said the main issue on the mac was a bad video card. It will be replace for free from Apple. Derick mentions that he likes the upgrades of the new mac book pro, but does not care for the touch bar.

Derick talks about working on upgrading an older MacBook pro to make it useful for work. Derick says he had a great week at Watch Me Code. He talks about building his launch sequence for his Docker project. He also shares that he has gain some subscribers.

And the dumpster is on fire..   Derick talks about laughing a docker  management cheat sheet for Watch Me Code. Derick says this is publish along with his ebooks an such. So far he has   170 downloads since a day ago. Derick says he did notice that people have been using junk email address, just to get the download file.

Derick says he got some good feedback through the Watch Me Code Slack channel. Derick talks about his further plans for the features he want to add to Watch Me Code.  Derick says he want to use Twitter to help with the Docker.

Derick mentions that he has been doing a lot of video editing, since he doesn’t have an editor anymore. But he is noticing things he can improve on. Derick also is seeing new subscriber on the annual package.

EntreProgrammers give Josh a hard time  about facial hair. John talks about the golden age of 36. John share that he is going to be running a half marathon in San Jose CA. Chuck mentions that he is at Microsoft Ignite. Chuck gives the variety of sessions at the convention.

Chuck mention that he made 300 dollars on this independence sale. He is not sure what he did wrong. Derick thinks he was discounting to many products, so them people are not sure about the sale.

Episode 135 “ The Dumpster Is On Fire”

Derick talks about his 38th birthday sale, and had 16 sales of the yearly subscription. John does some math, and says that Derick should maybe drop some prices on his subscriptions, because he found a price range that sells.

Josh says just change the prices without announcing the price change. Josh suggest to drop the prices incrementally, until he see sales come in. John says this is good new for finding a price range people are buying in.

Chuck asks a question about discounts for his products. Derick talks about the randomness of doing discounts. Chuck ask if this is a good way to let people know that you have stuff to sale.

Derick says he can finally pay down some credit card debt. Derick shares that he started seeing a therapist. Derick says he needs to working not being an asshole on his downtime. Derick shared that he will begin weekly therapy.

Derick says this is death of thousands of paper cuts. Derick mentions that if you are struggling, make sure you get help. Derick shares that because he works at home, his personal life and working life are so entangled, that its hard to separate the two.

Episode 121 “Pasty White…”

We’re Live!  Orangey John and Pasty Josh.  John talks share his sign up for a half marathon. 13.1 miles in just under 2 hours. “I just sign up yesterday!” Josh shares his knowledge on training for a marathon from his former client.

Derick talks about doing his webinar, telling a story, and missing his transition back to the topic. Derick will be posting his video to Youtube and several other videos will be free. Derick sounds like he had some success with his webinar, which then gave him more ideas for other projects. Derick mentions that only if you are registered or a member, the other supporting videos are behind the pay-wall for 250 dollars.

Derick asks for help on creating a one-click link in Drip for a campaign he has created. Josh shares some how-tos, and other experience with campaigns. Josh shares how to do a Trigger Link.

Josh talks about temple style or fill in the blank emails for ad copy. Derick talks about struggling with not making sales with the new subscription model. Derick asks which way to think about the issue, even if he is only getting smaller sales, verses the top tier subscriptions. John suggests a step-up offer for the subscription models. Derick says he is psychologically drained over the slow sales.

John -  Whatever you are doing…make sure to have it scheduled if you want to be prolific. 

Derick - When is comes to your business, make sure you at least have a solid working knowledge for what you are going to out source, before you out source. 

Josh - Just because you are not committed to something, does not mean you are not committed.

John is having some modem troubles and Derick is excited about his new couch. Derick talks about rediscovering some forgotten toys under an old couch. Derick talks about how an old subscriber had renew their subscription with Watch Me Code. Derick also share some update information on his refund plan.

Derick continues on about customers looking for a specific series on his Watch Me Code website. Derick talks about how feedback from his customers are giving him new ideas about products, bundles, and marketing strategies.

Chuck mentions trying a walk through of the product for the customer. Derick talks about the community on Slack. Derick says that there are a few people joining slowly. Derick is still working on the marketing on the JS Jabber project, and is now see the light at the end of the tunnel.
